I recently saw a few kids having fun outside, and they had a red wagon they were riding and it brought back some fond memories of when my cousin Helen who lived next door from me, and a few friends and I would jump in the red flyer wagon, one of us owed at the time I don’t remember owned it, but never the less what fun we had riding it.
We would ride up and down the block, and sometimes around the whole block, taking turns as we rode. Mostly it was just two kids at a time, and there were times four of us would pile in it!
We wore that wagon out to say the least, and I remember using it once to go the the A&P or Acme supermarkets back in the 1950’s, with my mother or sisters, or I even went to Mom Bruno’s Candy Store around the corner with it just for penny candy or a bottle of Pepsi or 7 Up!! Just to have an excuse to use it. Yea it’s the simple things in a kids life that make memories last a lifetime.
