Back in 1957 I had a paper route that I took over from my cousin at the time I wrote about this in a post years ago. but this Post is about the time I won a case of “Good N Plenty” candy as a prize for getting the most new customers to sign up for the daily newspaper delivery.

I was hanging out with some friends in the monastery across the street from my home, just playing a game of stick ball or flying kites and such, when a friend came running in yelling, hey Bobby! I was at the office around the corner and the dispatcher said you won for most customer signups! This was where Mom Burno’s candy store was located. Sadly it went out of business.

I could’t believe it! I never won anything so I was jumping up and down with my friends it was so funny, I then ran around the block to the store to claim my prize! A whole case of “Good N Plenty” candy all for me!

I shared it with my friends, I think it was a 24 pack if I remember it right, and I brought some home to share also. I enjoyed the candy for a few days, I can still taste it! I can’t remember how many new people I signed up, but I beat the rest of the other kids at the time!
