Peppermint Holiday Hot Chocolate
a great Hot Chocolate good for comfort on a chilly winter’s night!
Makes 2 mugs! I can almost taste it now!
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- ¼ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract (a little goes a long way)
- Optional: 1 crushed candy cane for stirring or topping
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Warm the milk and cream in a saucepan over medium heat until it’s steaming.
- In a small bowl, mix cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.
- Whisk the mixture into the warm milk until smooth.
- Add the chocolate chips and keep stirring until melted and silky.
- Remove from heat and add the peppermint extract.
(Seriously — measure it. Too much turns it into toothpaste territory.) - Pour into mugs.
- Sprinkle crushed candy cane on top or drop in a whole one as a festive stir stick.
