I loved those days of summer just going out early in the day to call on friends on the block and get a game of baseball going! We would choose sides and go across the street to the monastery grounds where there was a backstop and we made, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and home plate from large rocks and the pitchers mound the best we could and it was play ball!

Down the other end of the monastery grounds there was a parking for people going to Church on Sundays! The rest of the week we would play stick ball I loved playing that and would play most of the day when we could and stop for dinner then go back again! Yeah there was a lot of things for a kid to do on a summer’s day in the 1950’s
